Here’s an interesting poem I wrote the other day about my best friend (I’ve written many poems about us before).  I feel like this is somehow missing something, but I don’t know what.  I do, however, love the last line- that is one of my favorite memories spent with him because that was when we could be us.

The way you look at her
Never was how you saw me
You light up and glow
I couldn’t do that for you

She’s everything you need
Cute, sweet, funny, outgoing
Into most of the same things
Unlike how we were

We didn’t belong together, never did
Now we know that
But I miss the way we once were
You my best friend, me riding shotgun
